The Homeless - What are the Causes?

I have lived in the city of Cleveland all my life.  And I have seen neighborhoods change from streets full of life to homes boarded up and for sale signs posted.   I find myself having to file more evictions on people because of loosing jobs or downsizing in the work place.  In some case it has resulted in some persons or some families becoming homeless.

Why the bad housing situation and homeless problem?

The causes of homelessness may be quite different from country to country. But the high cost of housing, psychiatric problems, and lack of jobs and other underlining issues are all aspects of the growing problem. First of all, there is no denying that the housing problem is getting worst.

When you consider the high cost of gasoline at the rate of $3.39 per gallon it becomes hard for the average working person to decide how much money they will spend on food for the week and if they will have enough money to pay their rent.

With housing eating away such a large chunk of a family's income, any unfavorable financial turn could easily result in disaster.

As a apartment manager of 250 units I have seen persons struggle to pay rent and in some cases have to be evicted with no where to go.  My hopes is that none of my residents who are no longer able to pay the rent would never find themselves homeless.
